Hong Kong’s best Olympic games so far

Hong Kong has so far bagged one gold and two silvers at Tokyo Olympics 2020: its biggest medal haul in history. How can the government provide more support to the athletes and in what aspects?

* * *Hong Kong’s table tennis team featured Lee Ho-ching, Doo Hoi Kem and  Minnie Soo Wai-yam — and they showed extraordinary spirit, as seen below.

* * *Although of course the TV shows focus on those who win medals, the entire Hong Kong Olympic team, which includes coaches and a medical team, is a large group of people. The picture belows show the entire team with Hong Kong’s leader, Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor.

OUR GIRL’S ON! Today is a big day for us at Friday media. Years ago our team-member Herman Hu, one of the fathers of sport in Hong Kong, started giving scholarships to tiny dynamo Grace Lau Mo-sheung (4ft11 or 1.5m but mighty). Grace is now recognized as world-class in her sport, Karate, and will fight for Hong Kong in the women’s kata today at the Olympics. Go girl!

BRINGING HUGE rejoicing for Hong Kong was Siobhan Haughey, who won two silver medals in swimming for the SAR. The picture below shows her being hugged by team-mates.
